Inscribed Dug 1814/5 Pattern Infantry Officer Eagle w/Clouds, Shield, & Flags Cap Plate

Rare inscribed 1814/5 pattern, Infantry officer cap plate. The front has a fancy droop wing eagle, clouds, flags, shield, lightning bolts, and other symbols. This plate is die stuck heavy guage copper. It was recovered in New Orleans, La. The front has been cleaned and lightly coated with polyurethane or something similiar. It was attached to a relic board by the green junk on the backside which will scrape off with your fingernail. Amazingly, it is inscribed on the back in script "James glenn 1818". The inscription is much clearer in person! James glenn also was hand trimming the plate. I guess his comrades had oval ones and he wanted his to be also. He was almost finished when, for whatever reason, his plate was lost or discarded. The attachments are missing and it has cracks. It is a solid plate in the condition seen. $575
