Historically Inscribed Civil War Colt Model 1849 Pocket percussion Revolver. All the serial numbers match and date production to c.1862. It has its original grips. The engraved cylinder shows light wear & pitting with the scene visible just light. The revolver shows overall use wear, some pounding marks on one side, light pitting on the nipples, cylinder, and parts of the barrel and would be average if not for the inscription. The brass back strap and butt are inscribed "Presented to Tho. Rofs (Ross) by the Employee's G. W. R. R." There were several Thomas Ross's who served during the Civil War. You would have to do further research to see if you could pin down who this revolver was presented to. The GWRR I believe was The Great Western Rail Road. It was a small pre War railroad in the upper New York & Ohio region. Additionally, one screw is missing under the hammer. It is as shown in the pictures as I am not skilled with the NRA revolver grading system. $1695
