Dug Pre Civil War New York Eagle & Shield 2-Piece Belt Buckle

Dug pre-Civil War, New York eagle and shield 2-piece brass belt buckle. This stamped brass tongue has a rope border around the tongue disc. The belt loop bar has fancy lined decoration. The eagle disc has a small split on the edge and 2 small cracks where it attaches to the belt loop bar. It is a stable tongue without danger of seperation and has a fine deep brown patina. The wreath is correct for this tongue with a matching fancy lined decoration. I was told they were dug within a few feet of each other. The patinas are a bit different so I can't be sure this is true. This is an early gold rush era New York buckle. $325
