Inscribed Jeweled Silver & Gold 19th Corps Badge Of Timothy L. Woods 26th Regt. Mass. Infantry

Timothy L. Woods' silver 19th corps badge with a centered gold mounted jewel. It is inscribed T. L. Woods Co. E - Vet. Vols. - Mass - 26th Bat. on the four edges around the centered jewel. Timothy re-enlisted on 1-1-1864 and purchased this corps badge around that time. It is jeweler made and inscribed. Timothy must have paid extra as you rarely see corps badges with centered jewels. The jewel does have an edge hairline you can see when you rotate the pin in the light. According to the various databases Timothy was a 40 year old farmer when the War began. He enlisted in Sept. of 1861 and was mustered out on 8/26/1865 in Sav. Ga. He also was known to go by both the names of Timothy Wood and Timothy Woods. $1750
